The Ohio Sigma Alumni and Volunteer corporation were able to fully sponsor two undergraduate brothers for SigEp national leadership programs this summer. Checkout what our two brothers were able to take away from their experiences.
To say that Tragos was a great experience is a huge understatement. Although you may think it was because of the free trip to Greece where I got to experience stunning views and breathtaking ruins, this was only a small portion of what makes Tragos unforgettable. The conversations and the relationships made were single-handedly what made this quest far and beyond more impactful than a normal vacation abroad. I had conversations with amazing SigEps about anything and everything. Which exotic animal would you like to ride into battle given that it would listen to your every command? What are your career goals, and how do you hope to achieve them? How do you feel about death and the fact that our lives are finite? How is your mental health? Is there anything you have been struggling with lately? These conversations opened my eyes to many realizations about myself, my thoughts, and various aspects of my life. Through these conversations, I formed a strong connection with multiple brothers, and thanks to the small world that we live in, I had the opportunity of meeting with a couple of them once we all made it home. Now, I have new perspectives that I’m sure will guide me as I continue the quest throughout my life. – Jose Cantua, Ohio Sigma 2023 Tragos Quest to Greece Scholar
Going to Ruck was a really rewarding experience for me. Even though I am a fresh recruit, only joining SigEp during the spring 2023 semester, I still learned a lot about SigEp and took away a lot from my experience at Ruck. Doing activities with my brothers like the high ropes course helped me build bonds with them, and taught me the values of teamwork and relying on each other. I really liked hearing about the perspectives of my fellow brothers at other chapters, and it was very eye opening seeing the problems that other, bigger chapters faced, as well as chapters that are of a similar size as us. All in all, it was a very rewarding experience and I learned a lot during my time at Ruck. – Jason Gao, Ohio Sigma 2023 Ruck Scholar
